Once a traditional game farm, Kwessi Dunes has been transformed into a unique 10-room desert lodge that sits on 15,000 hectares of exclusive desert terrain in the heart of the 200,000-hectare private NamibRand Reserve. Offering full-board accommodations, the low-key lodge is located 85km south of Sossusvlei and provides guests with the opportunity to relax by the pool and sip cocktails all day long while enjoying the spectacular views.

The lodge's rooms are spread throughout the farm, but remain close to the main house, pool, and restaurant. As a guest within the reserve, you can avoid the morning queues and regulated opening hours to snap the perfect photo of the iconic red landscape at your leisure. With views of ochre sand stretching as far as the eye can see, the vast expanse of seeming nothingness is dotted with only a few acacias against the vivid blue skyline.

While there may not be the Big Five game species, you can still enjoy sightings of adapted species such as oryx, kudu, springbok, Burchell's zebra, jackals, aardwolves, African wild cats, and bat-eared foxes. If you're lucky, you may even spot a leopard or cheetah.

Activities available at the lodge include game drives, desert walks, helicopter flights, quad bike tours, and hot air balloon rides. Horseback riding on the white salt pans is another unique activity you won't want to miss.
